Tyler Schnaithman named new Oklahoma Board of Agriculture member

Tyler Schnaithman has been named the newest member of the Oklahoma State Board of Agriculture, following his appointment by Governor Kevin Stitt and confirmation from the Oklahoma Senate Thursday. 

Schnaithman will represent District 1 which serves 16 counties in northwest Oklahoma.

“Tyler Schnaithman has proven himself as an agricultural leader in Oklahoma,” said Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur. “We look forward to the perspective and expertise Tyler brings to the Oklahoma Board of Agriculture.”

Schnaithman is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher at his family’s farming and ranching operation in Garber, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 2017 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He’s still active on the farm, where he works with his brother and father and they continue their commitment to preserving and growing their family’s legacy for the next generation. 

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve the great State of Oklahoma and represent northwest Oklahoma on the State Board of Agriculture,” Schnaithman said. “Agriculture has been a major part of my life and I’m excited to give back in a new way to the industry that’s so important to me and my family.”

The State Board of Agriculture consists of five members appointed by the Governor.  Schnaithman succeeds Joe Farris who vacated the position after serving on the board since 2006. The board and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and incredibly thankful for the years of service Mr. Farris dedicated to the State of Oklahoma.
